Welcome to this course where you will learn to improve your quality of life through dance and working with your emotions.

These questions among many others are the ones we raise in Emotional Vision, working them through dance. If any of them resonate with you, then this is the course for you.

This course will help you to unblock your body and manage your emotions, because sometimes dance does not flow if our body is blocked emotionally or mentally.

I can’t conceive dance without the emotions to guide it, without the authenticity of your life’s path.

The soul of your dance is here, the inspiration you need, the answers to the questions of your inner self.

It is a course that nourishes your deep, intimate, true being.

In it we will see different topics, such as:

  • How we can be affected by the opinions of others or ourselves about our dance and our life, learning to regain our personal power, and not to spend energy on wanting others to like us.
  • How to understand our emotions and know how to express them.
  • We will learn how to close stages, in order to have the space to create new ones.
  • How to work with what I call the “magic muscles”, using the muscles of the pelvic floor and belly, to gain awareness of our inner body, physically and emotionally.
  • We will work on family ties, to understand the importance of knowing where we come from to know where we are going.
  • We will talk about the “creative woman”, femininity and all that surrounds it.
  • How to improve the “stage presence”, and overcome fears and nerves when dancing, achieving confidence in ourselves and in our body.

Among many other topics that will help you connect with your body, your emotions and your thoughts, so you will gain quality of life and depth in your dance.

You will be able to learn in an inspiring and beautiful way, through images, explanations and exercises. There will be a main video, sometimes together with other additional videos, and in each one you will have exercises, explanations or meditations that will allow you to absorb the subject to work on.

Are you ready?

“Dance your soul and be happy”.

I am waiting for you, to guide you on this path to your INNER self.

See you in class!

With love, always…
Alhazar.

Introduction to the emotional vision

In the emotional vision, we will meet the complexity of emotions that we experience through life or that are the results of the creativity of our emotional intelligence.

A dancer not only has to be connected with the stage but also with all the daily life moments because they are a big source of inspiration.

Sometimes you feel lonely, sad, other times happy, sometimes you feel sadness, you feel it in your guts and it is hard to breathe… sometimes love can fix everything. Feel the peace; silence is filling your soul.

I don’t know what to feel, or how to feel it… I am walking on a new path towards within.

I need to integrate my feelings, emotions, sensations, a deeper vision.

When I pay attention to what I am feeling all the layers that separate myself from my soul disappear…

Past emotions are emerging; I take time to observe them, and now that I have seen them, I don’t want to forget them. I anchor them in my mind and they become my new creative refuge of endless and healing resources.

I dare to enter deeply, serene and conscious.

A river of thoughts and emotions is ready to flow…

Family ties

Would you like to watch the complete video? Start classes

Sometimes things do not go well and we do not know why. We always seem to stumble over the same stone and fail to break the cycle. Often we wonder why, and without getting to know the reason, we get up and move forward but we find this same stone again. Observing the dynamics we had with our parents can bring us many answers to remove all the stones that forever repeat in our lives.

Maybe there is something in life that prevents you from moving forward; observe, discover what it is and remove it from your soul.

We all have family ties, some very entrenched, that hinder or support, limit or condition our individual action.

Discover and successfully get rid of our family heritage is our work. So we break our bad family patterns and we change our path, choose our own, venturing into the unknown.

We have lots of hands to help us. Some seem good, some bad, some are pushing us, others holding us.

Learn to feel the support and strength you get from your family ties after having deeply observed them.

Dance will be your tool to connect with the depth of your relationships.

  • Become aware that the relationship with the family can affect my life and my dance.
  • Dancing can help me heal the relationship with my family.

The links that tie us

In this video we show an example of choreography inspired by how our family links condition and tie us. We used this resource to create a choreography and danced it in a theatre.

The choreography is performed by the Company Alhazar in the Bartrina Theatre of Reus. The dancers are Ainhoa, Davinia, Naiara, Paula, Patty and Alhazar.

This choreography is an example of how to bring to the stage everything we have worked on. You will see that the first part of the choreography is related to the water video, and the second part is related to the family links video.

We inspired ourselves with family ties, and used resources to create a story that guided our choreography and helped us interpret it with great intensity. We used several dancers who represented our family, and with the inspiration of the main video we created something real, something deep…

Contents of the video:

  • Example of how to create and bring to the stage a choreography about the personal topics you have worked on.

  1. [Exercise] Emotional questionnaire.
  2. [Exercise] The links that tie us.

Stage presence

Stage presence is the clear result of an awake and unlocked body that is whole in its thinking, feeling and doing. A willing body crossed by emotion and projected.

-Martha Graham

There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that through you, translates into action, and this expression is unique, since there will never be anyone like you. And if you block it will never exist through any other medium and be lost…”.

-Martha Graham

In the everyday, I live between my thoughts and my surroundings, which sequester my attention taking me to the present for a few moments, until the inner speech becomes active again reminding me of all the things I have to attend to day to day: the places I have to go to, the people who I have to speak with … It is like being in the present and then no longer being there.

I sometimes felt the same on stage; a sense of disconnection, fighting between my thinking and actions that take away from my dance expressiveness and fluidity, like two opposing forces blocking me.

Contents of the video:

  • How to overcome fear and nerves on stage.
  • Keys for a good presence while dancing.
  • Achieve confidence in your own body by establishing a body-mind union.

Inner vision

Click [CC] and select English

Would you like to watch the complete video? Start classes

Every day we connect with our energy, we project around us and somehow touch people in our environment.

Our thoughts and our feelings condition our body and our energy. What our body projects is directly related to our inner vision.

We all have dreams, we all have projects… but if we do not love ourselves enough, if we do not value ourselves, if we do not believe in our ability to create, if we think we do not deserve it, if we do not try hard enough … nothing comes out okay.

Believing in yourself is something you choose, it is a position you decide to take on life and than can grow over time as you develop strong pillars that maintain that feeling within you.

Contents of the video:

  • Believe in yourself, value yourself and love yourself as you are.
  • Believe in our ability to create.
  • Improve your self-esteem.
  • Make an effort to achieve goals.
  • Pay attention to the negative and positive thoughts and use them to create our dance.

External influences

Click [CC] and select English

Would you like to watch the complete video? Start classes

There are many eyes watching us and influencing our actions, projecting fears and insecurities. External influences that cause us fear. Most times we let ourselves be influenced by all outside opinions and we stop valuing ourselves, losing personal power and giving it to others. They can influence us so much that we can come to believe that what we do is wrong or is not good enough.

How are we going to dance well if we are not in our body? How are we going to feel good about what we do if we spend our energy in trying to please everyone? And so there is no more strength left to allow us to move from the soul … and our soul despairs waiting to be able to be shown through our movement, and it is covered with negative thoughts, making it increasingly smaller, less and less valid and increasingly insecure.

We interact with all these points of view; we listen to them and try to make changes in order to be accepted by others. And without realizing it, we start not to be who we are, we begin to doubt ourselves and everything we do.

When we are dancing, we show part of our being, and if we interpret something we are not, something that we feel, and we focus only towards to outside, nothing goes well for us. We look towards the outside and our concentration; thoughts are aimed to please others. We project our energy through the eyes of others by fear of being judged, and we leave our bodies and souls completely, focusing only on the insecurity that the opinions of others cause us.

Contents of the video:

  • Work on how opinions and judgements of others influence our life and our dancing.
  • Regain personal power.
  • Allow our soul to express itself when we dance.
  • Stop spending energy on wanting to be liked by others.
  • Be secure and confident in ourselves, about what we do when we dance.
  • Be authentic in our dance.
  • Have freedom in our movements.
  • Keys to believe in yourself.
  • Learn to meditate to increase the personal power.

+ Contents:

  1. [Theory] Believe in yourself.
  2. [Theory] Our personal power.
  3. [Meditation] Meditation: I am.
  4. [Exercise] Recovering bits of personal power (Dance visualization).

Viewpoints

Would you like to watch the complete video? Start classes

With this exercise, you can see that the way of looking of each person is determined by their limitations, their expectations, their beliefs … And the most important thing here is your gaze towards all those opinions.

All opinions are valid, and they are all true. All opinions are conditioned by the individual point of view. You will always find a variety of different opinions, all of them faithful and true to the beholder. The important thing to learn here is not to take anything personally. To understand that every point of view depends on the experiences, life experiences and lessons they have received.

Contents of the video:

  • Learn to take nothing personally.
  • Understand the look of the others.
  • Understand that all opinions are valid and that there are different points of view.
  • Live and create more serenely and without external pressure!

Looking at the past

Click [CC] and select English

Would you like to watch the complete video? Start classes

Whenever we look back, we don’t look forward. Holding on prevents us from growing.

You can’t change what has happened in the past, but you can very well change the way you look at it and revise your opinion about what has happened.

You can interpret in many ways when things happen to you. Changing the way you look at the past, understanding it and finding the lesson in it will help you to soften it and to let it go easier.

Closing stages of your life implies a goodbye that hurts, that leaves an empty space to be filled again by something new.

The emotional burden affects our physical body and keeps us from adopting a posture that is calm, relaxed and fluid. It closes our heart, weighs down our shoulders and tenses our neck. How many people have a tense torso and difficulties to move! Maybe it’s not technique they need, maybe they only need to unload their backs from so much emotional weight they have lived through.

Concentrating on the torso, the shoulders and the neck will help us to become aware of our level of emotional burden, which make us so rigid.

It is always important to know when a stage of life has reached its end. If we insist on dwelling on it longer than necessary, we lose the joy and the sense of the rest. Closing circles, shutting doors, closing chapters, call it what you want.

Shut the door, close, clean, throw away, oxygenate, detach, shake off the dust, let go.

Contents of the video:

  • Change our look on our past.
  • Understand that cling on something or someone does not make us feel good.
  • Understand the importance of closing stages.
  • Recognize the emotional burdens blocking our body.
  • What we can do to get a calm, relax and fluid body posture.
  • Be aware of the tensions on our neck, shoulders and torso.
  • Work on the difficulty of the movements from the higher part of the back.
  • Work on our rigidity.
  • Exercises to work with the neck, head and hair in dance.
  • How to make the energy flowing between the body and head-thought.
  • Meditation on the life stages.

Emotional burden

We are so used to carrying the emotional burdens of our lives that we sometimes don’t realize how much they are weighing on us, nor that they keep us from moving freely. To realize this I will propose an exercise.

We will put ourselves in a really unpleasant situation, literally blocking our physical body.

In our lives, the emotional body blocks us when it is fully burdened, and we will see how something as easy as walking can become really difficult and uncomfortable.

Let’s focus our whole intention and all our emotion on the movement, remembering and thinking of those moments in our life that made us carrying this burden. Imagine those moments melting away, leaving a great empty space on our backs, noticing it getting lighter and lighter, more and more free, more and more our own.

Contents of the video:

  • I will propose an exercise: “the emotional body blocks us if fully burdened.”
  • Motivation to unblock ourselves.
  • I propose an exercise to unblock the emotional burden settles in the upper part of the torso.

+ Contents:

  1. [Exercise] Discover your blockage.

Cartography of the emotions

Click [CC] and select English

Would you like to watch the complete video? Start classes

Sometimes, our emotions can affect our physical body. May it be with rigidity, other types of indisposition or illnesses.

Dancing can help us get through this difficult task.

We are going to see the emotional and mental blocks that our body can hold.

The experiences that we live provoke different emotions through time, and sometimes we don’t know what to do with them; sometimes they are so strong that we don’t want to let them out, fearing not to be able to control them once outside, let them disturb us, forcing us to step out of our comfort zone.

When we don’t allow an emotion to express, we lock it inside our body, creating then an internal “bomb” that, sooner or later, will install one way or another.

So we “forget” about this primary emotion, and we keep on living our life without paying attention, until a second emotion appears and covers us with a permanent state of uneasiness.

Contents of the video:

  • Understand how our emotions can affect our physical body.
  • Learn about the concepts of “primary emotions” and “secondary emotions”.
  • Learn about the concepts of “healthy or adaptative emotions” or “unhealthy or non-adaptative emotions”.
  • Detect which emotions are primary, and which are secondary.
  • How to recognize if our emotion is healthy or non-adaptative.
  • Be aware that emotions can affect our physical body, and that we can use dance to help us manage them.
  • See what are the emotional and mental blocks that our body can contain.
  • We will discover the map of our body connected to our emotions.
  • We will localize the body zones where emotional blocks are created.
  • We will dance our emotions.
  • Learn to listen to our body when we feel an emotion.
  • We will discover the map of our emotions, and will become aware of the emotions we have kept hidden and how to manage them at the best.
  • We will meditate connecting with our being.

  2. [Meditation] The being.
  3. [Additional Video – Exercise] “Omy” movement technique.
  4. [Additional Video – Exercise] “Reverse undulation” movement technique.

Cartography of the emotions: the anger

Click [CC] and select English

Would you like to watch the complete video? Start classes

There are different types of anger: the real and alerting and therefore appropriate, and the transferred anger, which is blind and therefore disproportionate.

In this video we explain the different types of anger and the causes that provoke it in order to identify in ourselves the origin of this emotion.

We can dance in anger, and in this way let it out without harming anyone. But if we also know what kind of anger we feel and end up understanding and loving it, the sense of inner well-being will come much sooner.

Contents of the video:

  • Learn to differentiate between different types of anger.
  • Know in ourselves the causes that provoke our anger.
  • Know how to differentiate if the anger we feel is adequate or excessive.
  • Once this emotion is identified, we can dance with more awareness.
  • We will see examples of how it can affect us, from day to day in the life of a dancer, such as having excessive anger that we do not listen too enough.

How do we define ourselves? What is it to be conscious? What is consciousness? What purpose does dance have nowadays?

Today I would like to visualize a cartography of my mind and to dance it. We will work with these concepts: the brain, the mind, the unconscious and the supraconscious.

It’s as if the unconscious mind came from the past, consciousness brought me into the present and the superconscious mind pushed me into the future.

Now I have a clear order of all these areas in my mind and their functions. It is so important to have it all in order. I am thankful to these three areas that support me in my life and in my dance. These are my permanent counsellors and are well used, an infinite source of self-awareness and creativity.

  • Visualize a cartography of your mind and dance it.
  • Become familiar with these concepts: the brain, the mind, the unconscious mind and the super conscious mind.

Creative woman

Would you like to watch the complete video? Start classes

There are women who lose the connection with themselves, and not only with themselves, but with all of their family lineage and their physical bodies.

The uterus is the power center of creativity, to create a work or life project, to create a painting, a poem or choreography… all is creation.

When we create, we feel fulfilled.

When we create, our center is balanced and our life flows. The reconnection with our body, especially with our pelvic center, can help us direct our life to where our soul wishes.

Women must regain their feminine power and find reconciliation with the masculine.

The unconscious expresses itself in many ways, through words, dreams, and drawings, through the choices that we make in our life, our intuition, and for me one of the most reliable ones is the expression of the unconscious through the body.

The unconscious is in the whole body, in every cell, in each organ and in each tissue.

The time has come to reconcile with our body, with our deep emotions, to reconnect with our essence, with what we really are, to feel connected to our own essence and act in line with what we are. It’s time to dive into our unconscious and distill the information that is really useful for us, to search inside and not from the outside, without fear.

Contents of the video:

  • Understand what the unconscious is.
  • Introduction to the archetypes.
  • Express the unconscious through the body.
  • Know how to listen and observe our body.
  • Find the unconscious in every part of our body.
  • Reconcile with our body.
  • Find in our body useful information about us, without fear.

+ Contents:

  1. [Meditation + Exercise] Observing our body.

Through dance, we come back to ourselves by finding ourselves with our inner self and the information that we carry in our uterus as well as the meaning that we it gives to our personal life.

Women have the capacity to manifest and create life, and above all to create their life.

What does it mean to come back to life? What is sensuality?

The exercises and movements that come from belly dance will help us enormously to return to BEING A WOMAN, to reconnect with our femininity, with our female side and inner being, with our fertility, with our creativity, either to get pregnant with a child or for a project, either during pregnancy or postpartum … We will work with some movements, also using the magic muscles technique.
